Ryan's Bio
Hi, My name is Ryan Johnston I am 25 years old. I have lived here my entire life, so if you have lived here long I probably know you or someone you know.
I have loved tattoos as long as I can remember, but my first actual memory of tattoos is when I was 8 years old, I went to my first tattoo shop downtown with my mom and my aunt and I picked out my first tattoo that I wanted that day (I never got it though). After that I started drawing on my arms and legs, and usually got in trouble for it. By the age of 15 I started “trying “ to tattoo on my friends around my neighborhood but they usually didn’t turn out that great and I got in a lot of trouble. On my 18th birthday I went and got my first tattoo a tribal sun on my right calve. That was the day I learned that I was in love with tattoos! Two days later I went back with my older brother and we got matching tattoos on our right arm. I continued to get tattooed over the next two and a half years, it was what my brother and I did on our Friday or Saturday nights when we could afford it.
In 2002 I met Ramiro and Melonie when a childhood friend of mine Roman Costa got hired on at the Inkspot. I started hanging out whenever I had free time and before long they started to notice. One night while hanging out like always helping around the shop, answering the phone and helping customers when I could, Ramiro walked in and asked if I wanted to learn how to tattoo, before I could think about it I said “I would love to!”
I spent the next year as an apprentice with Ramiro trying to soak in as much info as I could. The time seemed to fly by and before long I got my tattoo license. I was finally a tattoo artist making a living tattooing on customers. I had finally made it!!
Now I live the life I had always wanted. I love my job I enjoy what I do more than anything. I love my customers they are the GREATEST! But most of all I love my Inkspot family!!!
