Leave bandage on for the rest of the night. The next morning wash your tattoo again. (gently)
reapply your ointment and rebandage. Repeat the process that night . The next morning wash your tattoo and apply a fragrance free lotion. Such as Eucerin or Lubriderm.
Do Not rebandage after this point. But keep lotion applied for the next few days. And wash your Tattoo daily. Do Not Soak the Tattoo.
No swimming until your tattoo is healed. This includes hot tubs, pools, lakes, ocean, your own bathtub etc.. Basically do not soak your tattoo in water. It is an open wound that will get soggy like a scab does when you wet it. Then your tattoo will be ruined.
Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds, tanning oils, lotions, and sand.
Never pick at your tattoo. If it has a scab leave it alone. You can ruin the tattoo.
Leave any peeling skin in tact until it falls off by itself.
Don’t wear tight clothing that will irritate your tattoo.
Do not use multiple healing products at the same time. We recommend A&D ointment for the beginning of your healing process. Apply a small amount it into your hand and gently apply to your tattoo using your fingertips. Then switch to Lotion. Apply a small amount it into your hand and gently apply to your tattoo using your fingertips.
Good hygiene is extremely important, Wash your tattoo once a day while taking your shower.
Body Piercing Healing Instructions
NEVER TOUCH THE PIERCING WITH UNWASHED HANDS (Main reason for infection in most piercings.) Also, do not let anyone else touch the piercing. This includes kissing or licking with oral piercing (lip tongue, labret, Monroe, etc... It is an open wound. (You wouldn’t let someone spit on a scrape on your arm or leg.) Don’t let the piercing come in contact with another persons bodily fluids of any kind. (In the event this happens best thing to do is immediately wash the piercing with antibacterial soap and watch for infection during the next week.)
DO NOT CHANGE YOUR JEWELRY
(Most piercing take many months or a year to completely heal.)
Changing your jewelry the first time should be done by a professional. Most people do not realize it but, when you frequently change jewelry in an unhealed piercing you assist with migration. It will thin the skin on the inside that is trying to heal. And puts you at a very high risk for infection. Best thing to do is leave it alone. If at anytime during your healing process you notice an infection Make an appointment with your physician and request a prescription for an antibiotic. DO NOT REMOVE THE PIECE OF JEWELRY. You will seal the hole and trap the infection in your body. Infections can travel inside your body resulting in major complications including death. Even with the aid of an antibiotic the infection still needs an opening to drain from.
Never use hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, or perfumed soaps, on your piercing.
They damage healthy cells and cause scar tissue. Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) A & D ointment, Neosporin is NOT recommended for aftercare, as it can collect and promote the growth of bacteria.
Avoid hot tubs, lakes, and pools during your healing process. If you must go swimming and you have a piercing that takes more than 2 months to heal, be a good judge of the water you get in to. For extra protection you may use a water proof bandage.
Alcohol, drugs, and caffeine will delay your healing process. Healthy bodies heal more quickly. You can assist with a speedy healing process by taking a multivitamin supplement. This will accelerate the healing and tissue regeneration.
Avoid smoking, chewing tobacco, and spicy foods during the healing process for oral piercings. Biotene is an excellent mouthwash for oral piercings.
Avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds for a few weeks. As well as tanning oils, lotions and sand.
Avoid tight fitting clothing , if it is irritating your piercing. Such as the navel piercing.
Some piercing require tight pressure from clothing to have maximum comfort during your healing process. (Nipples are an example.)
Change your bed sheets frequently. If you have pets that get on your bed wash them daily or keep your pet out of the bed. For ear piercings and facial piercings you can use an old clean T shirt on your pillow so it will not stain your pillow cases if you have drainage or small amount of bleeding during the night.
We recommend Ivory Soap to clean your piercing. It is very gentle and effective. If you choose to use Anti Bacterial make sure you dilute it with water. Biotene is recommende for oral piercings.
